Tool tracking that shows accountability and the latest scan
Tool tracking means you know who has a tool – in the service van, on the project or in the store – where it was last scanned and when. Not real-time GPS on every screwdriver: a chain of accountability that updates every time someone scans the QR code with their phone, no app required. Delatool gives supervisors and workshop managers one register for check-outs, latest scans and what is missing before the next job.
What is QR-based tool tracking?
Every tool carries a unique QR label. When someone takes it, a scan checks the tool out to that person; the next scan – in the van, on site or at return – moves the responsibility and sets a new last-seen location. That answers the everyday question "who has the tool?" without hardware tags, batteries or logins for the people who just borrow and return.
Tracking is one part of Delatool's tool management system, which also covers inventory, service and calibration reminders. It fits electricians, service companies, trades and construction firms with roughly 20–500 employees, with EU hosting.
Tracking tools in service vans and across projects
- Check-out against a van or a person shows what is missing before the next job.
- Loans to colleagues or subcontractors are visible, with history per tool.
- Anything not scanned during an inventory round becomes a deviation the same week – with a name and timestamp to start from.
- Theft marking comes built in: a visible, unique label plus a record of who had the tool last.
We don't claim continuous real-time positioning: the position updates at each scan. For a few expensive machines that must trigger movement alarms, GPS hardware is a complement – for hand tools in volume, the check-out is what reduces losses.

Frequently asked questions
How can I track tools in service vans?
Label the tools with QR codes and make every pick-up a check-out against the van or the person. Delatool shows who has the tool, in which van it was last scanned and what is missing before the next job. The next step is to order a free 30-day demo package.
Does tool tracking require an app?
No. Scanning, check-out and search run in the phone's browser. People who only borrow or return tools need no login.
Is this GPS tracking?
No. Delatool records who checked the tool out and where it was last scanned. GPS hardware suits a few expensive machines; QR check-out suits hundreds of hand tools.
